Internal conflict: He must realize that at some point, he is gonna have to let go of nemo and let him live his own life. I think this can show us that in reality, although we would much rather control people and have things our way, we have to let people make there own choices in life. Qualities that make you admire, sympathise, hate or relate to him: You admire his courage and bravery for not giving up to try find his son, you sympathise with him because he has lost someone dear to him, you hate him because he is overprotective and needs to back off, and you can relate to him if you have ever had to let someone close go. How he develops and changes over the course of the story: By the end of Marlins journey his whole mind set on how to live has changed. At the beginning of the film Marlin is a very protective fish and doesn't give nemo and freedom but during his journey he meets many people, has crazy experiences and gains new wisdom and by the end of it all he has learnt how to have fun and relax enough for his son to have a good time. |
Nemo
Personality traits: Adventurous, like to try new things, friendly and he will put his friends before himself. But he can't accept that there are some things he can not do. His goal/hope is: that he wishes his dad would let him have more freedom, to escape from the fishtank he is held in and to explore the ocean. Relationship with others: In the beginning of the film Nemo doesn't have any friends but during the film he meets many people that he becomes close to including all the fish that were in the tank he was held in and all the school kids. External conflict: Nemo had to figure out a way to escape captivity in his tank, then he can be reunited with his dad. Internal conflict: He must accept that in reality there are some things that he can not do and that his dad sometimes knows what's best. He must understand that his dad is only being cautious because he loves him and doesn't want to lose him. A message that can be taken from this is that sometimes if your parents seem unreasonable or unfair it's only because they care about you and want the best for you. Qualities that make you admire, sympathise, hate or relate to him: You admire his curiosity and his very positive attitude, you can sympathise with him because he got kidnapped and was kept captive not knowing where his dad was, you could hate him for being rude to his dad and disobeying him and you can relate to him be because we all know what it's like for parents to be unfair and overprotective. How he develops and changes over the course of the story: During his journey, Nemo changes or grows incredibly mentally. At the beginning of the film Nemo was almost a little immature, thinking he is invincible in a way. he doesn't agree with being told what to do and rebels against his father but during the journey he meets many people who he learns a lot fromby the end of the of the film he has matured and has learned to accept that he is not a super fish. |
Dory
Dory is a fish that Marlin comes across during his journey to find Nemo. Dory tags along with Marlin even though sometimes Marlin wasn't too keen on it. Dory is a very optimistic fish and even in the darkest of situation she can see the light. But Dory is also a very annoying fish and gets on Marlins nerves a lot. And to top it all off she has an extreme case of short term memory loss. |
